“If you have good thoughts, they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will  always look lovely!” - Roald Dahl

I think more than ever many of us are looking for an escape right now. An escape from worry, fear, or maybe even powerlessness. For me, reading and writing has always been that escape. When I was younger, I read all of Roald Dahl’s books. You may remember him as the author of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, and James & the Giant Peach. I loved that even in the darkest of times, magic was always just around the corner. Matilda’s awful used car salesman dad and ignorant mom didn’t understand her. James was so hungry that he licked the inside of an empty chip bag. But there was something much bigger waiting for them. Something amazing. Matilda made a new friend in her teacher, Miss Honey, and discovered incredible powers within her. She found a new loving home. James traveled the world on a peach, found new friends, and overcame his greatest fear. Like Matilda and James, I think we can come out on top. We can choose to take a bad situation and rise from its ashes. We can choose to look inside and find what makes us happy and healthy. We can look outside and help a friend or even a stranger. If we do, we might find something magical too. XOXO, Evelina
